Amman Valley Railway Society
David Stonehouse, Chairman of AVRS
The Amman Valley Railway Society is changing and reorganising in order to enhance its contribution to the community.
The society’s commitment to improving transport in and around the Amman Valley is unchanged, as is its ultimate aim of restoring the Mumbles railway.
Over the coming months the board of directors and I will be asking you for your ideas on what else we can do to make life in the valley and surrounding areas more rewarding.
With your help, we’ll be examining new projects, looking at education and employment opportunities and re-establishing our heritage legacy.
In order to better assess our resources and to see how you can help us, we’ve decided that membership of the society should no longer be free to all, and we’ve reintroduced subscriptions
We’re now asking all our contacts and volunteers to reapply for membership.
Our Annual General Meeting has been postponed until November 2016 to give everyone who might wish to vote at the AGM plenty of time to register.
There are three tiers of membership:
- Managers: Full voting rights.
- Ordinary membership: Full voting rights with an annual subscription of £5.
- Volunteer membership: Free for all volunteers, but with no voting rights. Volunteer members may apply to upgrade to ordinary membership at any time.

I’m looking forward to your continued support, and to working with you to enhance all our lives in these beautiful valleys.
